The Silent Sona 2 Review

The gold standard for sonic waves gets a quieter, softer update. Is it worth the premium price tag?

Lab Specs Overview
Rating 9.4/10
Noise 42 dB

Unboxing & First Impressions

The Sona 2 arrives in Lelo’s signature sleek black box. Immediately, the weight feels substantial—not heavy, but dense with quality. The silicone finish is distinctively matte and “velvety,” significantly smoother than cheaper competitors.

The Lab Test: Noise Levels

We measured the Sona 2 in our isolation chamber.

  • Ambient Noise: 30dB
  • Lowest Setting: 38dB (Whisper quiet)
  • Highest Setting: 52dB (Noticeable hum, but low pitch)

Compared to the original Sona, the “Cruise Control” motor dampens the high-pitched whine that plagued earlier models.

Firmness & Texture

  • Shore Hardness: 40A (Mouth), 70A (Body).
  • Feel: The mouth is pliable enough to create a seal without discomfort, while the body provides a solid grip.

User Experience

The sonic waves penetrate deeper than surface vibration. For beginners, the sensation can be intense. We recommend starting on the lowest setting with plenty of water-based lubricant.

Pros

  • Incredibly deep sensation.
  • Fully waterproof for bath use.
  • Luxurious finish.

Cons

  • Price point is high.
  • Button interface can be tricky to navigate blind.
